NPMA Military Hiring Program Connects Members with Transitioning Military Talent
NPMA supports member companies becoming approved Department of Defense SkillBridge Partners, marking a significant milestone in the association's commitment to supporting military service members in their transition to civilian careers. The SkillBridge program provides an exceptional opportunity for pest control companies to connect with highly qualified transitioning service members. Through this Department of Defense program, service members can gain valuable civilian work experience during their last 8-10 weeks of service.
The SkillBridge program allows companies to provide training to active military service members while the Department of Defense continues to pay the service member's military salary and benefits. After a service member successfully completes the program, companies can offer employment when they separate from the military. This creates a risk-free training period and gives companies first opportunity to offer permanent employment to pre-screened highly motivated candidates. Transitioning from military service to civilian employment can be a challenging journey for many service members. The SkillBridge Partnership is fostering diversity in the workforce by ensuring a smooth transition and creating a welcoming environment for military personnel and their families. The program aligns with NPMA's broader Workforce Development Program goals of increasing public awareness about pest control careers and creating interest with job seekers including specific targeting of veterans, students, older adults, women, and people from historically underrepresented groups.
Companies can also post unlimited job openings at careers.pestcontroljobs.com to reach the thousands of veterans who visit the job board seeking opportunities.
