Jim Ogle Scholarship
The Pest Management Foundation has a number of scholarships for students. The application period is now closed. Scholarship applications are accepted from October 1 through November 30th each year. Scholarship recipients will be notified in mid-January.

Award Amount: One (1) award per year totaling $1,000
Jim Ogle always believed in education and having a quality training program for his company, Lloyd Pest Control. It is with great honor that the Ogle family has created the Jim Ogle Endowed Scholarship to help further college education in entomology or other pest management research.
Scholarship Criteria
- Student graduating from high school entering college or trade school
- Full time student in good academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Priority given to those whose families serve in the pest control industry.
Application Submission Requirements
- Resume or curriculum vita.
- Current unofficial academic transcript.
- A one-page (minimum) essay describing applicant’s professional goals and aspirations and how he/she plans to use their studies to contribute to a field in urban pest management.
- At least one (1) letter of recommendation from the applicant’s teacher or counselor addressing the applicant’s progress in studies, and his or her work ethic.
- Other supporting documents (research papers and proposals, faculty research participation, related industry internship participation, fellowship projects, industry work experience, etc.) can also be submitted.

2025-2026 Recipient Vivienne Huang TBD Vivienne Huang is a high school senior at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC. In 2025, she interned with Panama’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, where she built a program to automate the extraction of financial data from public reports of global sovereign wealth funds. She has also worked with multilateral institutions including the World Bank and IMF, experiences that solidified her interest in studying economics and computer science to advance the public good through data-driven financial analysis. Vivienne serves as an Editor-in-Chief of Horizon, Sidwell’s student-run publication, and was a captain of the Sidwell Girls Varsity Soccer Team, where she helped lead the team to its first DC State Championship since 2021. She earned an honorable mention on The Washington Post 2025 Fall All-Met and a spot on the All-Independent School League First Team. In her free time, Vivienne can be found hiking, oil painting, and reading. |

2024-2025 Recipient Elizaveta Plis Rice University Elizaveta Plis is a dedicated high school senior from Fairfax, Virginia. She has conducted independent research on larval crowding rates of the Zophobas morio beetle and their impact on polystyrene consumption. While employed in the USDA Invasive Insect Biocontrol and Behavior Laboratory, she worked with squash and leaf-footed bugs, managing them in colony and monitoring them in the field for kairomone trapping studies. Elizaveta is planning on obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in entomology and re-engineering Black Soldier Fly production processes. Outside of school, Elizaveta is a nationally-recognized sculptor and an avid participant in the theater, both on-stage and off. |
