PPMA Unleashes Over One Million Termites in "Will They Eat It?" Season Two
Five-part sequel shows termites’ destructive nature, reminds consumers to be vigilant about termite control
FAIRFAX VA. (July 17, 2023) — Ready or not, the Professional Pest Management Alliance (PPMA), which serves as the consumer marketing and public outreach arm of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), just unveiled the much-anticipated return of its hit video series, “Will They Eat It?”.
Following the success of its first season in 2019, which has been viewed by digital users more than 1.2 million times, PPMA debuted the sequel to its thrilling video series on July 17th. This exciting five-episode video project demonstrates the truly destructive nature of termites by placing everyday objects into a tank of hungry termites and this year, PPMA is upping the ante with over one MILLION total termites to answer the question we’re all asking… “Will They Eat It”?
PPMA gathered a number of cellulose-based household items to demonstrate to consumers just how quickly these tiny terrors can chew through items, and ultimately, through the wooden structure of a home. Season two showcases jaw-dropping results when show host Dr. Mike Bentley releases more than a million hungry termites on objects including a baseball cap, family photo album, dog toy, backpack and even a big, comfy armchair.
“Year after year, termites continue to inflict serious structural damage to homes across the country, accumulating an estimated $6.8 billion in U.S. property damage,” said Mike Bentley, Ph.D., entomologist for NPMA and returning host of “Will They Eat It?”. “We’re launching this sequel as a way to demonstrate the magnitude of damage that a termite infestation can have not only on the safety and structural integrity of a home, but also the impact these damages could have on your wallet.”
