From Skeptic to Academy Advocate: Why Courtney Carace Keeps Coming Back
When Courtney Carace, ACE - Owner, COO at Pest-End Inc., first heard about NPMA’s Academy, she wasn't convinced. "I'm not a 'rah-rah' person," she admits. The thought of team competitions, icebreakers, and group activities sounded more intimidating than inspiring. Like many industry professionals, she found herself saying, "Maybe next year." Eventually, she decided to attend. What she discovered was far different from what she expected.
While Academy is known for its team-based challenges and friendly competition, Carace quickly realized the experience is rooted in leadership development, professional growth, and connection. Through Learning Labs, networking events, and collaborative team activities, she gained practical skills, built lasting relationships, and developed confidence that carried back to her career. "What makes Academy special is that there's a place for everyone," says Carace. "Whether you're a technician, sales professional, marketer, customer service representative, or manager, you'll find opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow.
For Carace, the greatest value wasn't winning points or earning a medal. It was connecting with peers from across the country, learning from different perspectives, and building relationships that continue long after the event ends. Her advice to anyone considering 2026 Academy? "Don't wait until next year. Go. You might be surprised by what you learn about yourself, your career, and the people around you."
2026 Academy will take place July 21–23 in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. With interactive Learning Labs, Brain Dates, networking opportunities, and team-based leadership experiences, Academy continues to help develop the next generation of leaders in the pest management industry.
