U.S. Pest Control Industry Sustains Steady Growth with 6% Increase in 2025
The structural pest control industry in the United States continued its pattern of strong performance in 2025, generating total service revenue of $13.416 billion, according to the latest report from Specialty Consultants, LLC. This represents a 6% increase from 2024's $12.654 billion — more than 2.7 times the U.S. real GDP growth rate for the year.
"The 2025 results are a powerful reflection of the essential role pest management plays in protecting public health and property," said Dominique Stumpf, CAE, CEO of NPMA. "Growing at more than 2.7 times the U.S. Real GDP is no accident — it speaks to the professionalism, dedication, and entrepreneurial spirit of our members across the country."
There were 16,565 pest control firms operating across the U.S. in 2025, with 81.4% running one or two locations. The industry employed an estimated 109,384 service technicians nationwide. Despite a challenging labor environment — 36.8% of respondents said their company's growth was constrained by an insufficient number of technicians on staff — two-thirds (66.8%) of respondents expected their residential service revenue to grow in 2026.
Nearly 13.29 million residential customers received professional pest control services during the year, with recurring revenue accounting for 85.4% of residential service revenue, up slightly from 85.2% in 2024. The commercial segment continued to expand as well, posting a nearly 7.0% increase in service revenue.
When asked to identify the pests most responsible for callbacks, more than half of respondents (51.6%) named ants, followed by cockroaches (42.6%). More than two-fifths of respondents identified ants and bed bugs as the pests most in need of better control solutions.
The findings come from the 26th edition of A Strategic Analysis of the U.S. Structural Pest Control Industry, for which 800 pest control company owners and managers were surveyed. More than half of the respondents to this year’s survey were members of NPMA, and nearly 62% were members of their state or local association.
