Recent Professional Pest Management Alliance AI Research Reveals Consumer Pest Conversations Soar as Summer Begins
Summer is in full swing, and the Professional Pest Management Alliance’s (PPMA) recent AI research uncovered significant increases in online activity related to pests. Some notable findings include:
- Spiders and termites saw the highest increases in engagement among all core pests at 74% and 52% respectively.
- There were sharp increases in engagement on the topic of mosquitoes in Tennessee (up 4,241%) and D.C. (up 2,776%), bed bugs in Wyoming (up 1,252%), and mice in Montana (up 1,149%).
- Cockroach sightings in the home increased by 74% in the backyard, cockroach sightings increased by 45% in the attic, and stink bug sightings increased by 28% in the bathroom. The most reported pest sighting in May was cockroaches in the backyard, which generated nearly 230,000 consumer engagements.
- Rats, wasps, spiders, and ants are top concerns for homeowners at this time of year.
These insights can help inform pest control companies' marketing strategies and anticipate which pest issues will drive customer calls.
