NPMA Explores Association Code of Ethics
At their June meeting, held in conjunction with the Executive Leadership Forum, the NPMA Board of Directors discussed the creation of a code of ethics for NPMA member companies. As the result of the discussion, a Taskforce was appointed to evaluate the pros and cons of adopting a code of ethics for the Association.
The Taskforce was comprised of the following members:
- Justin McCauley, McCauley Services (Taskforce Chair)
- Kevin Burns, Arrow Exterminators
- Adam Carace, Pest-End
- Julie Tesh Clark, Pest Management Services, Inc
- Bob Dold, Rose Pest Solutions
- Chris Gorecki, Rollins
- Audrey Hall, Eco Serve Pest Services
- Daniel Headrick, Moxie Pest Control
- Tom Jarzynka, Massey Services
- Matt Mehr, Hawx Services
- Luke Rambo, Rambo Total Pest Control
- Andrew Richardson, Saela
- Lauren Thrasher, Thrasher Termite and Pest Control
- Steve Good, Good Services (Moderator)
In August, the Taskforce met with and reviewed recommendations from NPMA’s legal counsel and explored the feasibility of implementing an aspirational or voluntary code of ethics for the Association. The group unanimously decided that while the intent of helping to foster good practices within the industry was important, a code of ethics would not be in the best interest of the Association and was not the appropriate vehicle to achieve this goal.
The Taskforce’s recommendation was shared with the NPMA Board of Directors during their virtual meeting last week. The Board agreed with the Taskforce’s recommendation to forgo the creation of a code of ethics as a path forward. Instead, the Association will be working to provide resources, education, partner support, and relationship building assistance to member companies over the next year. The Association appreciates the important work performed by the Taskforce and encourages peer-to-peer communication between members as we continue to advocate for the importance of professionalism in the pest control industry.
