Maximize Your Giving Tuesday Impact Before Tax Laws Change
This Giving Tuesday, you can support the Pest Management Foundation's mission to advance our industry through education, research, and outreach. And, with numerous tax changes in store for 2026, it may be beneficial to give before these new changes take effect.
Key Tax Changes for 2026*:
- New floor for itemizers: You'll need to give at least 0.5% of your AGI to claim a charitable deduction. Consider maximizing your giving in 2025.
- Reduced benefit for top earners: The tax benefit drops from 37 cents to 35 cents per dollar deducted. If you're in the highest bracket, give more this year for greater savings.>
- Higher standard deduction: $15,750 for single filers, $31,500 for married couples (with bonus deductions for those 65+). Even if you don't itemize, you may benefit from gifts of appreciated stock, real estate, or IRA distributions.
- SALT deduction increases: The limit rises from $10,000 to $40,000 in 2025. This may influence your overall tax and giving strategy.
Smart Year-End Giving Options:
- Cash Gift – Support the Foundation's work online at www.npmafoundation.org or by check (postmarked by Dec. 31).
- Donor-Advised Fund – Recommend a grant to the Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that has been the industry's trusted partner for over 60 years.
- IRA Gift (Age 70½+) – Give up to $108,000 tax-free and satisfy your required minimum distribution. (Must transfer by Dec. 31)
- Charitable Gift Annuity – Lock in today's high rates while receiving lifetime income and supporting industry research.
- Establish a Named Scholarship – Create a lasting legacy through a named scholarship. To date, 23 named scholarships have been established thanks to generous donations from industry supporters.
Your Impact
The Foundation takes a multi-pronged approach to strengthening pest management:
- Funding Applied Research: 95% of every grant goes directly to meaningful pest control science—we cap overhead at just 5%, far below the 50% many universities charge.
- Supporting Future Leaders: Our Named Scholarship Program provides financial support to outstanding students pursuing careers in urban entomology and structural pest management.
- Connecting Our Industry: Through events like our biennial Gala Dinner, we bring the community together to celebrate achievements and advance our shared mission.
