From Bites to Insights: Hands-on Ectoparasite and Vector Identification, Collection, and Surveillance Training

This workshop provides a crash course on ectoparasites and vectors, crucial for both human and animal health. Participants will gain practical, hands-on experience in identifying common ectoparasites (including ticks, mosquitoes, fleas, mites, and lice) and will learn about techniques for safely collecting ectoparasites from animal hosts and vector surveillance methods. A key focus will be assessing vector-borne disease risks and developing strategies to prevent bites and disease transmission. This interactive training is designed to equip professionals with the skills to enhance vector surveillance and mitigation efforts in their respective fields. Pesticide credits will be offered for Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Delaware.
