January 29, 2015 (Fairfax, VA) - The National Pest Management Association (NPMA) is pleased to announce that House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy - the second House's highest ranking member - will be the special guest speaker during lunch on Tuesday, March 17 at NPMA Legislative Day.
A small business owner before he was elected to Congress in 2006 to represent a Bakersfield, CA area district, McCarthy is deeply committed to eliminating unnecessary paperwork requirements and other government regulation and increasing government efficiency. During this session, he will discuss the House Republican agenda for the 114th Congress.
Legislative Day provides NPMA members an annual opportunity to forge relationships with their elected U.S. Senators and Representatives. It also helps NPMA establish partnerships with a new generation of federal lawmakers, which will ultimately benefit the entire professional pest management industry.
This year's event, sponsored by FMC, will feature keynote speakers General Stanley McChrystal, Chris Wallace and Reid Wilson. Other features of Legislative Day 2015 include a workshop on pollinator health, a session on the food modernization act and a presentation of the results of the NPMA/PCT Business Profile Survey.
"For 27 years, PMPs have increased awareness, knowledge and support of the $6B pest management industry among Members of Congress," stated NPMA Chief Executive Officer Bob Rosenberg. "In recent years we have seen significant legislative successes that can be directly attributed to our members' participation at Legislative Day. I strongly encourage PMPs to join us on Capitol Hill in March and continue to make a difference."
