Fumigation
Few pest management activities are subject to as much regulation and oversight as fumigation. Depending on the type of work a fumigation company performs, it may be subject to state pesticide applicator certification/licensing, U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Labor, and U.S. Department of Agriculture rules. The breadth of regulation can be extremely confusing and overwhelming. To help fumigators more easily understand and comply with the various federal regulations that they are subject to, NPMA has developed a regulatory compliance document to provide as much one-stop guidance and instruction as possible. The document covers both new and longstanding regulatory requirements a typical fumigation company must meet. This document should not, however, be considered exhaustive, and fumigators are strongly urged to do their own research and consult regulators in their particular jurisdictions.
